Stunning gardens definitely worth a visit. You could spend a whole day there, there is so much to see. Lovely staff and tea rooms. My only gripe was the cream tea, which to me can only be clotted cream. Double cream was used and tasted like long lasting and the fruit scone was dry with only 3 sultanas....sadly it completely ruined
my treat. Hence 4 stars
Beautiful gardens and a vast selection of magnificent trees. Personally found the riot of colour from the azeleas and rhododendrons totally over the top and off putting, but most people go especially to see that aspect.
The reason I gave it 4 stars was because of catering - if you like menus from the 1970's you'll be fine!
First visit and only to cafe, even so impressive trees from car park. Must do full Arboretum tour next time😃 …
Sept 2021 .As a fairly local family one of those places you never quite get around to going to. Was really pleased in the end we made the effort. Not that many formal planting beds but a lot of shady woodland style planting. The main attraction would have to be trees and shrubberies which are quite extensive. There is also Park Wood a short walk away in the price. Throughout there are large mature rhododendron and azaleas which will be a must in the spring. Will without doubt go back then. Nice cafe and terrace, vegetable garden and lawn areas. Price £7 each which we felt was good value.
(Returned in spring and the rhododendrons and azaleas were indeed spectacular. See pictures. )
Beautiful gardens for those seeking inspiration or just a pleasant day. Don’t miss the walled garden - full of the prettiest of cottage garden flowers.
Amazing collection of trees - if you have the time and stamina don’t forget the woodland beyond the park.
And when you need a rest, you’ll have a wonderful welcome for tasty food in the cafe.
Altogether fabulous.
Stunning garden with every view photogenic. A few more plant labels would be helpful but we really enjoyed this garden and will certainly be coming back. The cakes were fresh and very tasty.
Stunning gardens with fabulous walks. The variety of plants and flowers are exceptional. The tea rooms are beautiful inside and out and the staff were lovely. We sat outside in the sun overlooking the gardens and had the curry, bacon bap and a scone, all of which were very tasty. The whole place is dog friendly, so we'll definitely be purchasing a season ticket next visit. Highly recommend
We had a lovely day here today and purchased a couple of plants and a light lunch. The weather was on our side, sunny and warm. Had it been raining and cold we may not have enjoyed the experience as much. Plenty of free parking, a good …
